CITY OF SPARKS DEDICATES SOLAR PROJECT AT LARRY D. JOHNSON COMMUNITY CENTER
The City of Sparks and NV Energy are celebrating completion of a solar power project expected to reduce the city's annual electric costs by approximately $6,960. As part of its Sustainability Action Plan, the city has installed 29-kilowatts of solar power (photovoltaic panels) on the roof of the Larry D. Johnson Community Center. Installation costs will be partially offset by a $128,290 rebate the city is receiving through its participation in NV Energy's SolarGenerations program.

SPARKS SEEKS INPUT ON THE FUTURE OF LAND DEVELOPMENT
The City of Sparks will hold a public workshop to receive input from City residents on the revised city's proposed land use plan on Thursday, February 4, at 3:00 p.m. at the City's Community Development Department located at 1675 E. SEWER RATE INCREASE OF $3.46 PER SPARKS RESIDENTIAL UNIT PER QUARTER EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2010
On January 1, 2010, Sparks sewer users will see a $3.46 increase in their sewer bills.  The effective rate on January 1, 2010 will be $81.10 per residential unit per quarter, up from $77.64 per residential unit per quarter in 2009.  This is part of the rate increase approved by the City Council February 25, 2008 and implemented April 1, 2008.  The rate increase was phased in over a period of five years to minimize the impact on ratepayers.
